Jackson County Forest
Jackson County Forest is by far the largest public land within the Ancient Glacial Lake Wisconsin, coming in at nearly 121,000 acres, almost twice the size of the Black River State Forest.
The county forest has an extensive trail system and camping opportunities; unfortunately, trail maps and campground information are unavailable on the county website. Although the recreational focus of the county forest includes ATVs, snowmobiles and hunting, there are miles of logging roads open to the outdoor adventure enthusiast. It is recommended that you visit the Jackson County Forestry and Parks Department (Black River Falls) to obtain maps and to plan your outdoor experience.

The mission of the Jackson County Forest is to manage, conserve and protect the forest on a sustainable basis. Management must balance local needs with broader state, national and global concerns through integration of sound forestry, wildlife, fisheries, endangered resources, water quality, soil conservation and sound recreational activities.
