Starter Itineraries
Four day routes across the Glacial Lake Wisconsin region, built only from destinations whose listings are currently open. Each stop links to its own page for location and contact details; check the county tourism sites for hours and events.
Cranes, Marshes and Sand Country
A day built around the glacial lake bed itself: the refuges and marshes that formed on its floor, then the sandstone bluffs at its southern rim.
Devil's Lake and the Baraboo Bluffs
The classic southern rim: a gorge-cut lake, quartzite bluffs, and the conservation and circus history that grew up around them.
Black River Country
Pine forest, a clear-water lake in an old quarry, and a brewery town: the northern half of the region's public land.
River Towns and Ridge Roads
Wisconsin River history, a drive-through wildlife area, and two college towns' worth of trails and small museums.
