Marquette County Scenic Bike Routes

 

Here is a selection of recommended scenic bike routes that take the visitor off the beaten path.

 

BRIGGSVILLE LOOP (10 miles) – Begin at the Briggsville dam and travel north on Co. A through the gently rolling Neenah Creek Valley.  Turn east ½ mile to County O, then return southward on O.  Turn west on Co. P then south to 3rd Avenue, crossing Hwy 23 to a T-junction.  Go west on Co. X back into Briggsville.

 

NORTHWEST PASSAGE RIDE (17.5 miles) – Begin at Pioneer Park in Westfield (check out the artesian well) and ride west on Park Road. Cross Co. CH and take Park St. to Eagle Ave. Head west, then north on 4th Avenue through beautiful farmland and into heavy forests. Turn east on Dakota Drive, then south on county CH back to Montello.  This route has lots of hills and curves.

 

MUIR PARK PATH (15 miles) – Start at John Muir Memorial Park, boyhood home of the famous naturalist. From the entrance of the park on Co. F, travel north.  Just across from the park is the Fox River Unit of the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge. Go northwest on 10th Road to Co. D, west on D across Buffalo Lake, then east on County C on the north shore of the lake into Montello. Go south on Main Street to Co. K, then west along the south shore of the lake to the junction with Co,. D.  Turn east on D to 14th Road, south on 14th Road that merges with 13th Road (after a zigzag). Continue south on 13th Road to Gillette Drive, turn west on Gillette to Co. F, then south back to Muir Park. This path features many rolling hills.
