Phillips Chain of Lakes

The Phillips Chain of Lakes is a 1,236-acre impoundment on the Elk River and the second-largest body of water in Price County. About 40 percent of the chain lies within the Phillips city limits. Its three main lakes are connected by navigable channels, so you can launch once and fish the whole system: Long Lake at 419 acres and 54 feet deep, Duroy Lake at 350 acres and 18 feet deep, and Elk Lake at 87 acres and 25 feet deep.

The chain holds walleye, muskellunge, northern pike, largemouth and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie and bluegill. Wisconsin DNR surveys consistently rank it among the better multispecies fisheries in the Northwoods. Public boat landings are on Long Lake and Duroy Lake, and a DNR fishery survey summary published in March 2025 carries current population data.
