Suk Cerney Peatlands State Natural Area

Suk Cerney Peatlands is an extensive mosaic of meadow, bog, and conifer swamp interwoven with sandy uplands that support pine barrens. Within the nearly level peat is a central poor fen dominated by woolly-fruit sedge and yellow lake sedge. Other species include bluejoint grass, steeplebush, tawny cotton-grass, pitcher plants and orchids. The adjoining uplands and low sand ridges (the latter which formed from the dunes that developed following the drainage of the ancient Glacial Lake Wisconsin), support dense stands of jack pine over a ground layer dominated by Pennsylvania sedge.
