Timm's Hill National Recreation Trail
The Timm's Hill National Recreation Trail is a 1.8-mile loop that climbs to the summit of Timm's Hill, the highest point in Wisconsin. It is the better of the two ways to reach the top: the trail winds through old-growth hemlock, crosses a wooden bridge over a cascading creek, and gains roughly 300 feet of elevation before reaching the summit.
The trail is well maintained and well marked, and it is usually quiet, even though it ends at a state record. A casual pace takes about 45 minutes to the summit from the lower lot and about 90 minutes for the full loop. The climb is moderate, steady rather than steep, and dogs are allowed on a leash.
