Butternut Lake
Butternut Lake is a flowage on the North Fork of the Flambeau River near the town of Butternut, producing walleye, musky, northern pike, crappie and perch. The flowage is shallow on average, but the river channel provides deeper structure that holds walleye through the summer, which is why it is known locally for consistent walleye action in spring when fish move into the channel to spawn.
The town of Butternut sits on the lake's north shore. There is a public landing off Main Street and a second landing on the south end reached by Butternut Lake Road.
