McMullen Park

McMullen County Park was the first county park in Monroe County, constructed in 1958 using recipients of welfare assistance to lower the lake level, remove dead trees, cut out roads, drive a well, and build toilets. The Park’s 60 acres has access to 50 acre Lake Wazeda and more than 1,000 acres of Monroe County Forest Land. The lake provides an excellent and quiet fishing experience as there are no gasoline engines permitted, The Park has 71 campsites, four of which are primitive campsites situated along the lake (#68-71). There are restroom and shower facilities, a boat launch and fishing pier. There are 1.5 miles of trail; 0.5 mile accessible. Camping rates for 2013 were $19 for electric sites and $15 for primitive sites.

The Park has an annual Clean-Up Day on the last Saturday in April. Participants who help with the cleanup are entitled to free camping Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Those interested are asked to bring rakes, pitch forks, shovels, ATV’s & trailers (for clean-up only).  A potluck dinner is held in the shelter for all participants. Please bring a dish to pass!
