Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center

The Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center is the Midwest’s ultimate guide to cranberries and a must-see destination for visitors to Ancient Glacial Lake Wisconsin. The recently redesigned museum features interactive information, videos, storyboards and historic exhibits about the cranberry – Wisconsin’s No. 1 fruit crop!

There’s a lot of history about the cranberry and visitors can spend the entire day learning about this important agricultural crop. Cranberries have been grown commercially in Wisconsin for more than 150 years, and produces more of this tiny berry than any other state. It is estimated that Wisconsin’s growers annually harvest enough cranberries to supply every man, woman and child in the world with approximately 26 cranberries! In 2004, the cranberry became Wisconsin’s official state fruit.

Visitors to the Discovery Center can see “Albert’s Workshop”, an exhibit with custom-made woodworking equipment made by growers, a 150-year old dugout canoe used by Native Americans who used to harvest wild cranberries in this area, a 1914 Model-T Ford used by cranberry grower Carl Getzinger to transport him to his marshes, and other educational and interactive displays. Visitors will also want to partake in tasty items such as breads and pies from the Taste Test Kitchen and yummy ice cream from the Ice Cream Parlor
