Locomotive No. 2713

Soo Line Engine 2713 was built in May, 1911 by the American Locomotive Company of Schenectady, New York. Its construction, or build number is 49796. This locomotive developed 180 pounds of boiler pressure, had 33,150 pounds of tractive effort, and has 75 inch driving wheels. This was the last steam locomotive used on the Plummer line in 1955, and has been on public display near the old Soo Line Depot in Stevens Point since 1957.

The Friends of 2713, a non-profit group, is dedicated to the railroad history of Stevens Point. Their main focus is the preservation of this 4-6-2 Soo Line Pacific Class H-21 Locomotive No. 2713 and the Soo Line Caboose No. 158. The Friends have been working steadily to improve the train display since 1995. Future projects include new steps to the engine cab, safety and guard rails, landscaping, signage, and enhanced lighting, sound and security systems.
